Man is made in the image of God and therefore consists of 3 parts.

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ORIGINAL SIN

Man’s soul was created to engage with God through his spirit and to engage with the natural world through his natural body. 

Lucifer, an archangel, sought to have man worship himself instead of God. Man was tempted to do so through his flesh and in so doing man became enslaved through the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eye and pride.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

In rejecting God, the spirit of man was cut off from God.

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Since then man lives by these lusts which are invariably driven by fear and rejection, the inevitable by products of rejecting and being separated from his Creator. 

RESTORATION

Jesus Christ came to reverse this defeated state of man and to reconcile man to God.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 

The sin of man was placed onto Christ in exchange for his right relationship with God. 

By accepting Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives; our sin is transferred to Jesus Christ, our sinful nature is broken off our soul and we have a clean conscience to engage with our heavenly Father.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me

Jesus Christ defeated the works of the devil and has restored man to God

Ephesians 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men

Spirit filled Christians have the power and authority to cast out demonic spirits and to bind their works.

Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven

Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
